Shrink hood machine

Hood shrinking machines - welding and shrinking in one step

Our hood shrinking machines combine a sealing device and shrink blower in a single operation. The products can simply be placed in semi-tubular film and fed under a hood. After closing, welding, sealing and shrinking take place automatically. This saves time and labor. Hood shrink machines offer perfect protection against dust and moisture and impress with their outstanding appearance thanks to crystal-clear film. They can be used flexibly in industry, retail and shipping and are intuitive to operate, require minimal maintenance and have low energy consumption.

What is a hood shrinking machine?

Hood shrinking machines are specialized packaging devices that wrap products in shrink film and adapt them to the product by applying heat. They combine the functions of sealing and shrinking technology in one compact device and are primarily used in the food industry, in trade and in various branches of industry.

How a hood shrinking machine works

Preparation: The product to be packaged is placed on the conveyor belt or a work surface and wrapped in a shrink hood or film.

Sealing: The hood is closed, usually with a magnet or other device holding the film securely while the appliance seals the film using heating elements.

Shrinking process: The air is heated in the integrated shrink chamber, causing the film to contract and fit snugly to the shape of the product - ideal for protection and bundling.

Removal: After shrinking, the hood opens automatically and the finished packaged product can be removed.

Advantages of hood shrinking machines

  • Space-saving and compact: Welding and shrinking take place in a single operation, saving space and time.
  • High efficiency: Particularly suitable for small to medium batch sizes with fast throughput.
  • Cost-efficient: It is not necessary to buy separate devices for welding and shrinking.
  • Flexible: Compatible with different types of film and adaptable for various product sizes and shapes.
  • User-friendly: Often with programmable settings for easy handling.

Areas of application

Hood shrinking machines are used in a variety of applications, including the following areas:

  • Food industry: packaging of baked goods, fresh snacks, fruit and vegetables - often in a modified atmosphere,
  • Trade and commerce: Bundling and protection of delicate or irregularly shaped products.
  • Industry: Safe transportation and storage of electronics, tools or other goods.

Differences to other packaging methods

In contrast to vacuum packaging, shrink packaging does not create an airtight seal. The film can have small perforations that minimize condensation. Nevertheless, the shrink film provides reliable protection against dust, moisture and mechanical influences.

Packaging - As much as necessary,
as little as possible

BVS uses the NaturePak label for products that enable ecologically sound use, reduce CO2 emissions and generate less waste, regardless of the packaging material used.

Our strategy

  • Less packaging means less waste
  • Better protection through high quality
  • Packaging materials made from recycled raw materials or equivalent proportions
  • Economical packaging systems reduce material and energy consumption
  • Ecological customer solutions regardless of material
  • Objective information about different packaging materials

Packaging made from recycled paper

Paper pays off for people and the environment in the long term. It is even better to use paper with a high recycled content. Recycled paper optimizes water and energy consumption and thus protects the environment and climate by reducing waste. Recycled paper offers a wide range of added value for all users.

  • Protects the environment and reduces CO2 emissions
  • Saves energy and water
  • Less waste through optimal recycling

Plastic packaging with recycled content

Polyethylene films are increasingly being produced with a proportion of recycled material, which - as far as technically possible - is being continuously increased. They are the most modern and safest quality packaging for all branches of industry. Due to their low density and excellent physical and mechanical properties, PE films have major advantages over paper, cardboard, metal and glass.

  • Protects the environment and reduces CO2 emissions
  • Can be recycled again and again
  • Is a lightweight material with a high protective effect
  • Significantly reduces food waste when used in the food industry
  • Generates much less waste than glass, metal or paper
