What is a lacing machine?

A strapping machine is used to wrap goods tightly with cords or strings in order to bundle them, hold them in place or pack them securely for transportation. It is a practical alternative to traditional packaging methods such as strapping tape or shrink wrap and is used in numerous industries, from the food industry to retail.

Functionality and areas of application

Bundling and securing: The product is wrapped with a string or cord and this is pulled tight so that the product is held together stably.

Typical applications

  • Food industry: e.g. for roasts, poultry, sausage products or cheese
  • Retail: bundling magazines, textiles or advertising materials
  • Industry: Fixing cables, profiles, wooden strips, etc.
  • Logistics: secure sealing of parcels and cartons.

Advantages

  • Gentle on the product: strapping is often gentler than strapping tape or shrink film.
  • Sustainable: When using cords made from natural fibers such as cotton, plastic can be completely dispensed with.
  • Adaptable: - Suitable for different product shapes and sizes.
  • Time-saving: the quick guiding and tightening of the cord shortens the packaging process.

Additional functions and variants

Tying machines are available in different designs that are optimized for special applications, such as for ring bundles or fresh produce. Some models have extras such as integrated labelers or automatic piece counters. Depending on requirements, manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic versions are available.

Packaging - As much as necessary,
as little as possible

BVS uses the NaturePak label for products that enable ecologically sound use, reduce CO2 emissions and generate less waste, regardless of the packaging material used.

Our strategy

  • Less packaging means less waste
  • Better protection through high quality
  • Packaging materials made from recycled raw materials or equivalent proportions
  • Economical packaging systems reduce material and energy consumption
  • Ecological customer solutions regardless of material
  • Objective information about different packaging materials

Packaging made from recycled paper

Paper pays off for people and the environment in the long term. It is even better to use paper with a high recycled content. Recycled paper optimizes water and energy consumption and thus protects the environment and climate by reducing waste. Recycled paper offers a wide range of added value for all users.

  • Protects the environment and reduces CO2 emissions
  • Saves energy and water
  • Less waste through optimal recycling

Plastic packaging with recycled content

Polyethylene films are increasingly being produced with a proportion of recycled material, which - as far as technically possible - is being continuously increased. They are the most modern and safest quality packaging for all branches of industry. Due to their low density and excellent physical and mechanical properties, PE films have major advantages over paper, cardboard, metal and glass.

  • Protects the environment and reduces CO2 emissions
  • Can be recycled again and again
  • Is a lightweight material with a high protective effect
  • Significantly reduces food waste when used in the food industry
  • Generates much less waste than glass, metal or paper
