Vertical form-fill-seal machine

Vertical form fill seal machines - Automated pouch packaging for bulk materials & free-flowing products

Our machines specialize in the automatic packaging of free-flowing and pourable products such as food, pharmaceutical and non-food items. They form, fill and seal bags made from flat film in a continuous process - precisely, space-saving and with a high cycle output. Thanks to their modular design, the machines can be flexibly adapted to different product formats, filling quantities and production environments. Companies that value sustainable packaging can also choose a special version that can also process paper-based packaging materials - ideal for reducing the proportion of plastic in the packaging line.

What is a vertical form, fill and seal machine?

A vertical form fill seal machine (also VFFS machine, from Vertical Form Fill Seal) is a packaging machine that forms flat films into tubular bags, fills them with products and then seals them. Filling takes place from above so that the product goes directly into the formed bag.

Functionality

  • Film feed: A roll of flat film is clamped into the machine and formed into a tube using a forming shoulder.
  • Filling: The product is filled into the hose from above using a dosing unit.
  • Sealing: The tube is sealed horizontally, giving the bag the desired length.
  • Separation: The finished bag is then separated from the remaining film material.

Areas of application

Vertical form, fill and seal machines are used in numerous industries, for example:

  • Bulk goods: snacks, sweets, coffee, rice, pasta
  • Powder: Flour, spices etc.
  • Liquids: Some models are also suitable for liquid products.
  • Non-food: technical articles or pharmaceutical products.

Advantages

  • Automation: The process from forming to filling to sealing is largely automated.
  • Flexibility: Different bag sizes and shapes can be processed without any problems.
  • Space-saving: The vertical design requires little floor space.
  • High performance: fast processing, ideal for large quantities
  • Cost efficiency: An economical solution for efficient packaging processes.

Packaging - As much as necessary,
as little as possible

BVS uses the NaturePak label for products that enable ecologically sound use, reduce CO2 emissions and generate less waste, regardless of the packaging material used.

Our strategy

  • Less packaging means less waste
  • Better protection through high quality
  • Packaging materials made from recycled raw materials or equivalent proportions
  • Economical packaging systems reduce material and energy consumption
  • Ecological customer solutions regardless of material
  • Objective information about different packaging materials

Packaging made from recycled paper

Paper pays off for people and the environment in the long term. It is even better to use paper with a high recycled content. Recycled paper optimizes water and energy consumption and thus protects the environment and climate by reducing waste. Recycled paper offers a wide range of added value for all users.

  • Protects the environment and reduces CO2 emissions
  • Saves energy and water
  • Less waste through optimal recycling

Plastic packaging with recycled content

Polyethylene films are increasingly being produced with a proportion of recycled material, which - as far as technically possible - is being continuously increased. They are the most modern and safest quality packaging for all branches of industry. Due to their low density and excellent physical and mechanical properties, PE films have major advantages over paper, cardboard, metal and glass.

  • Protects the environment and reduces CO2 emissions
  • Can be recycled again and again
  • Is a lightweight material with a high protective effect
  • Significantly reduces food waste when used in the food industry
  • Generates much less waste than glass, metal or paper
