Läckerli Huus AG, based in Frenkendorf in the canton of Basel-Landschaft, is a Swiss confectionery and baked goods manufacturer that has been synonymous with the highest quality confectionery for over a century. The product range extends far beyond the famous Original Basler Läckerli and includes cream caramels, pralines, truffles, chocolate and cookie specialties, which are sold in the company's own stores, via the webshop and by mail order. At the production site in Frenkendorf, gourmet products are created with great attention to detail. At the same time, the company attaches great importance to sustainability, for example by reducing packaging and recycling.
Before the implementation of the BVS solution, one of Läckerli Huus' packaging processes was characterized by multiple manual handling steps. After the chocolate coating, the Basler Läckerli had to be temporarily stored open and later taken to the confectioning department, where the final packaging took place. This process caused additional work as the open storage was time-critical and the goods had to be moved manually several times. Läckerli Huus therefore pursued the goal of reducing personnel costs, making the packaging flow more direct and achieving a continuous, integrated process.
To meet these requirements, a Futura 500 Servo flowpack machine with an extended infeed conveyor was installed. The machine makes it possible to pack the products directly after coating without the need for intermediate storage. During implementation, both the wide variety of formats in the product range and the fact that the operating personnel had no previous experience with flowpack systems were taken into account. Accordingly, great importance was attached to intuitive operation, clear process control and thorough training. Thanks to precise preparation, the integration went smoothly and also met the high quality standards of Läckerli Huus.
The new system has significantly reduced the work involved in the packaging process. Direct processing leads to higher packaging quality, improved labeling and stable, continuous processes. The employees reacted very positively to the new solution, as they were involved in the process design from the outset and quickly learned how to operate it. The collaboration with the BVS team was rated as extremely satisfactory, from the consultation to the training. This was not least because the focus throughout the project was not on the system itself, but on the best possible solution to achieve Läckerli Huus' goals.
Packaging - As much as necessary,
as little as possible
BVS uses the NaturePak label for products that enable ecologically sound use, reduce CO2 emissions and generate less waste, regardless of the packaging material used.
Our strategy
Packaging made from recycled paper
Paper pays off for people and the environment in the long term. It is even better to use paper with a high recycled content. Recycled paper optimizes water and energy consumption and thus protects the environment and climate by reducing waste. Recycled paper offers a wide range of added value for all users.
Plastic packaging with recycled content
Polyethylene films are increasingly being produced with a proportion of recycled material, which - as far as technically possible - is being continuously increased. They are the most modern and safest quality packaging for all branches of industry. Due to their low density and excellent physical and mechanical properties, PE films have major advantages over paper, cardboard, metal and glass.
